4.9 is closer to 5 than 4.5 so it's FIVE stars from me! I have walked past this restaurant (with rooms) oodles of times but have never wandered in for a meal BUT last night it was either there or a bowl of Cornflakes! The welcome was generous and the dining room is warm and cosy. The service is efficient and friendly ... and VERY accommodating ... Ordered Thai green curry ... and I went a bit off-kilter - a well done chop, the jus that they create for the lamb, chips and vegetables! Both meals were pretty, pretty good! I particularly enjoyed the cheesy-parsnips ... and the jus! Perfection would have been a bread roll (I may have omitted to order this) and Heinz Ketchup (imitators just won't do!). The other vegetables were prepared beautifully. I didn't order a dessert as I was stuffed! Next time ... It was not too dear (even with wine and a Corona) ... and is definitely now a "once a month" treat destination. Lovely!

Very nice food, well worth waiting for. Restaurant is small and on a busy night can get extremely hot and loud. Decor doesn't do the Chef or her food justice, looking like a small countryside coffee shop but the food is really good and the barman/co-owner is very nice to chat to whilst having a drink at the bar before going to your table. If you find yourself in South Molton, make sure you try Dawn's Stumbles, even booking a week in advance. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm not every time I go, when I'm in the area on business.

Had a birthday celebration with friends. There were 19 of us altogether seated on two tables. I had a nut roast with salad and a side of chips. My fellow diners had several different dishes ranging from rib eye steak to fish pie. A variety of dishes on the menu all served with freshly cooked vegetables. Served hot and all of us said our meals were delisious. I had a warm brownie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. My companions had cheese cake, meringue with cream and ice cream and two had ice cream potions. All followed by cafetiere of lovely coffee. This is a cozy restaurant with a lovely court yard for outside seating. There is ample parking and it's close to the main car park. This restaurant is situated in the center of the town. Altogether a lovely meal in comfortable surroundings with friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
